Why Career Services? Thoughts from Emily and Robyn, '09 Jumbos

Readers will recognize '09 alumnae Emily and Robyn as volunteers from our Alum Aid series. We've already chatted with them about their goals for the future, and in this post, they'll share a few words about how Career Services helped them move toward those post-graduation goals.

As a refresher, Emily majored in History and French and is working as a Human Rights Intern with an NGO; Robyn majored in Clinical Psychology and is working with kids in Australia. (See below for links to the entire Alum Aid series.)

EMILY
Career Services helped me out with focusing my goals. I developed a very close relationship with my career counselor. She has become a trusted adviser and friend and she has helped me enormously both during my senior year and since I graduated.

ROBYN
Tufts Career Services helped because I received a lot of advice from my advisor about how to phrase emails to Australian psychology researchers, because email etiquette is something I knew very little about. It was really helpful to have her proofreading and offering constructive criticism before sending away emails. She was also great with resume-editing. It was a huge comfort to know that I had a place to go for all of my future-related anxiety. I had been feeling completely too overwhelmed to even think about putting this Australia plan into action, until I started going to Career Services and working on the plan in small steps.
